White’s Ferry owners announced April 18 that they have offered to donate the White’s Ferry business operations to Loudoun County, according to a news release from JK Land Holdings.

The business operation and assets of the ferry are valued at $4.5 million, according to the release.
Montgomery County, Maryland, last week declined a similar offer.
“We spoke to Loudoun County leaders, and they are open to considering the donation,” JK Land Holdings CEO Chuck Kuhn said in a statement. “This will make it easier to work through zoning issues since the exemption on the Virginia landing side — owned by Rockland Farms — now expired. Donating the land to the county will make the zoning process simpler and faster.”
“After numerous proposed solutions, we hope that this one ensures the ferry finally becomes operational,” he said.
JK Holdings has had preliminary discussion with Loudoun County Administrator Tim Hemstreet, County Attorney Leo Rodgers and Cotoctin Supervisor Caleb Kershner about the proposal, according to the release.
The county will work directly with Rockland Farms in an attempt to secure access to the Virginia landing site, the release said..
The ferry service ceased operations in 2020.
